Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 13, 2026
FlrtAlert ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the FlrtAlert mobile application and website at flrtalert.com (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: Name, email address, date of birth, gender identity, and dating preferences when you register.
- Profile content: Photos you upload, bio text, and preferences you set.
- Messages: Content of chat messages sent between matched users.
- Connected social accounts (optional): If you choose to use the “Build my profile” feature, we retrieve a limited set of information from the account you connect — photos from Facebook; top artists and tracks from Spotify; liked videos and subscriptions from YouTube; and the public profile picture, bio and posts from Instagram or TikTok. We use this only to suggest photos and interests to you. Nothing retrieved from a connected account is added to your profile, shown to other users, or used for matching unless you review it and explicitly approve it. Anything you do not approve is discarded. You may disconnect an account at any time.
- Emergency contact: Phone number you designate for the panic button feature (optional).
Information Collected Automatically
- Precise GPS location: When you enable location sharing, we collect your real-time GPS coordinates to detect nearby compatible matches and send proximity alerts.
- Background location: With your explicit permission, we collect location data while the app is in the background so we can alert you when matches come near.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging).
- Advertising identifier: If you use the free, ad-supported version of FlrtAlert, we and our advertising partner collect your device's advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android) together with coarse device and usage signals in order to serve and measure ads. On iOS we ask your permission first through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we request only non-personalized ads and your advertising identifier is not used to target advertising to you. Premium subscribers are not shown ads.
- Usage data: Features you use, swipe actions, and interactions within the app.
- GIF searches: If you use the GIF picker in chat, the search text you type is sent to GIPHY to retrieve matching GIFs. See Section 4.
- Log data: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps for security and diagnostic purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate the proximity matching and alert features of the Service.
- Display your profile to compatible users within your configured discovery radius.
- Send push notifications and in-app alerts when a compatible match is nearby.
- Enable real-time chat between matched users.
- Dispatch emergency SMS messages via your panic button to your designated emergency contact.
- Improve, personalize, and develop the Service.
- Monitor and enforce our Terms of Service and safety policies.
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
3. Location Data & Privacy Protections
Location data is central to FlrtAlert's service. We have built the following privacy protections directly into the app:
- Home Privacy Zone: You can designate a home zone radius (default 300 m). Within this zone, your displayed location is fuzzed by up to ±500 m so other users cannot pinpoint your home address.
- Display fuzzing: The location shown to other users always has an additional ~150 m random offset applied, preventing precise triangulation.
- Night Mode: You can configure hours (default 11 PM–7 AM) during which location sharing automatically pauses.
- Ghost Mode: You can make yourself fully invisible and stop sharing location at any time from your Settings screen.
You may revoke location permissions at any time through your device's system settings. Revoking location permission will disable proximity alerts but will not delete your account.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these limited circumstances:
- Other users: Your profile (name, photos, bio, approximate distance) is shown to compatible users within your discovery radius. Your exact coordinates are never shared with other users.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party vendors to operate the Service, including:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) – cloud hosting, S3 photo storage, CloudFront CDN
- Google Firebase / FCM – push notification delivery
- Twilio – SMS delivery for the panic button feature
- Stripe – payment processing for Premium subscriptions
- RevenueCat – manages Premium subscription entitlements. We send RevenueCat your FlrtAlert account identifier together with purchase and device information so it can tell the app whether your subscription is active.
- GIPHY – powers the GIF picker in chat. When you search for a GIF, the text you type is sent to GIPHY along with your IP address so it can return results. We do not send GIPHY your name, profile, messages or location.
- Expo – delivers over-the-air updates to the app. On launch the app contacts Expo's update service, which receives your device platform, app version and IP address in order to return the correct update. No account or profile information is sent.
- Advertising partner: The free version of FlrtAlert displays ads served by Google AdMob. We share your device's advertising identifier and coarse device and usage signals with Google so it can serve and measure those ads. Google's handling of that data is governed by Google Privacy & Terms. Where you have declined tracking (iOS App Tracking Transparency) or withheld consent (EEA/UK), we request non-personalized ads only. Premium subscribers see no ads and no advertising identifier is shared.
- Connected social platforms: When you connect an account under “Build my profile,” we contact that platform (Facebook, Spotify, Google/YouTube, Instagram or TikTok) using the access you grant, solely to retrieve the information described in Section 1. We do not post anything to those accounts, and we do not share your FlrtAlert data with them for advertising.
- Legal compliance: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
- Business transfers: If FlrtAlert is acquired or merges with another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Location data: Real-time GPS coordinates are used to compute proximity and are not stored beyond your current session. Historical location is not retained.
- Messages: Retained while the match is active. Deleted when either user deletes the match or their account.
- Photos: Stored in AWS S3. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Logs: Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest for database and storage, bcrypt password hashing, JWT authentication with short-lived tokens, rate limiting, and non-public database subnets. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
FlrtAlert is a dating application intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at privacy@flrtalert.com.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & correction: You may view and update your profile information at any time through the app's Profile and Settings screens.
- Account deletion: You may delete your account from Settings, or via our account deletion page. This permanently removes your profile, photos, and matches.
- Location permissions: You may revoke location access at any time through your device settings.
- Notification opt-out: You may disable push notifications through your device settings or within the app.
- Advertising choices: You may withdraw tracking permission at any time in your device settings (see Section 9), or remove ads entirely by subscribing to Premium.
- Connected accounts: You may disconnect any linked social account, and discard any pending suggestions, from the “Build my profile” screen. Disconnecting stops further retrieval and deletes the access token we hold.
- Data portability / erasure requests: For requests beyond the above in-app controls, contact us at privacy@flrtalert.com.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively. Contact us to exercise these rights.
9. Cookies & Tracking
The FlrtAlert website uses essential cookies required for authentication and session management. The website itself does not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
The FlrtAlert mobile app, in its free ad-supported form, does use advertising tracking as described in Sections 1 and 4: Google AdMob receives your device's advertising identifier in order to serve and measure ads. This is subject to your choice:
- iOS: we request permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining means non-personalized ads only. You can change this later under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Android: you may reset or delete your Advertising ID under Settings › Privacy › Ads.
- EEA and UK: we present a consent choice before serving personalized ads, and honour a refusal by requesting non-personalized ads only.
- Anywhere: subscribing to Premium removes ads entirely.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
